In general, we could all use less stress in our lives. Here are a few things that will help.

Laying the Foundations at Home

“Less stress at work starts with what you are doing for yourself at home “

Brush it Away

Dry Brush your entire body once a day before showering using a soft bath brush, making light, long sweeping strokes away from the heart over your entire body. This stimulates the hormone and lymphatic systems, aids the liver and reduces cellulite and all while detoxing the body creating more relaxation and balance.

Coconut Calm

Organic Coconut oil is one of the easiest emollients for the skin to take in, allowing full hydration that creates a calming effect for the entire body system. Use after showering, it helps with fatigue, increases metabolism, works against the effects of aging such as loosening skin and whitening hair and more.  The smell alone is uplifting aromatherapy for your mood and I highly recommend doing this as often as you can make time for.

Get your zzzzz

We forget the most important stress aid of all, Sleep. Get 6-10 hours of sleep a night so your body has time enough to relax and revitalize. Put lavender on your pillow to allow a calm mind and a more relaxed sleep which allows the balance you need to deal with unexpected situations that may come up in work and in life..

Top 9 Ways to De-Stress at Work

Less is More
Though many of us reach for that extra boost in the morning or throughout the day to get us going, keep intake of Caffeine low for nerves in times of stress. Organic Herb and Spice teas, Like Sonnetor and Traditional Medicinals can increase Circulation, strengthen & support nervous system and liver (which is important with changing seasons), help with headaches and give a gentle boost with stimulating mint or White tea mixed in.

Nazdravi -“To your health”
Avoid skipping meals, especially during times of stress. Always keep a supply of easy access edible energy like fruit or protein bars in your bag or desk.. And, most importantly, take in a good amount of Fresh Still Water, live Fruits and vegetables for vitality and a happy, healthy body and mind.

Break for Balance
There are those days when stopping seems nearly impossible because there is just too much to do.Yet, taking even a short pause along the way will not only improve your feeling, but increase productivity.  Take a short walk or stare out the window as you give yourself a 2 minute hand massage with your favorite lotion. I like Lemon Verbena lotion which aids the body in working against stress and fried nerves as well as releasing tension held in hands and body through various reflexology points on the hands.

3 Deep Breaths
Yogic breaths allow  the opportunity to shift both physical and mental states (especially good during times of conflict).  Deep inhalation through the nose, drawing in all the energy you need..Exhaling through the mouth, letting go of all the things in your mind and body, which you don’t need, that are weighing you down. Close your eyes and do 3 times and notice the difference in your feeling and perspective after the last breath.

Change your Mind
Everyone has bad days. You have the choice to change your mind about what you experience and how you see and do things. Be kinder, more understanding and decide to respond, not react to those around you.To jumpstart the shift, gently inhale natural essential oils like Lemon, Orange, Grapefruit or my favorite Tangerine. These essential oils naturally refresh, energize, uplift and have anti- anxiety quality.,while also stimulating circulation and lowering blood pressure when most needed.

The Backup Plan

Have mood switchers close at hand. Make sure you have uplifting music, colors, photos and things around you that keep you up and feeling good or thinking about more relaxing times no matter what is happening in the office.  I keep music that makes me smile on my ipod, photos of the Ocean within view and Kukui Nut lotion close at hand to take me back to the beach in Hawaii where no stress could ever survive.

Departing thoughts
What do you do to de-stress at work? Some of the things above? your own magic formula?

Use all of the above tips, or just a few.  Just remember that continual stress creates long term effects on mind, body and spirit.  Taking a bit of time for you now, whether it’s a day, an hour or even a few minutes, will have a positive and balancing effect going forward.  We make extra time for work, family and all the things that need to get done in the day.  So, add one or all of the above to your list of to dos and see the difference it makes.

Good luck.

And, remember- “ Enjoy what you do and Do what you Enjoy :).”
